PURPOSE: An interconnection apparatus in a PAN(Personal Area Network) is provided to achieve saving in the cost, weight, and volume of a PAN system by using one of the devices existing within a PAN as a gateway for the other devices and providing the criteria to assist in determining the propriety of the execution of a high-level handoff from one enterprise network to another network. CONSTITUTION: A PAN(12) comprises a mobile phone(14), an electronic wallet(16), a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant)(18), and a lap-top computer(19). The PAN(12) uses the mobile phone(14) as a gateway element. An opportunity for transferring a common connection to another network occurs frequently. In this case, the gateway device(14) has the ability to be linked to a plurality of external networks, such as network A(22) and network B(24).
