PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting cationic coating composition forming a cured coating film excellent in performances including throwing power, electrodeposition coatability on rustproof steel plate and corrosionproofness. SOLUTION: The cationic coating composition comprises a modified amino group containing epoxy resin and a blocked crude MDI, wherein the modified amino group containing epoxy resin is obtained by reacting an epoxy resin of 180-2,500 epoxy equivalent with an alkylphenol, a polyol obtained by adding caprolactone to a compound having a plurality of active hydrogen, and an amino group-containing compound.
