PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attach a lens barrier without making a lens barrel large in size, even if a satisfactory space is not obtained near a photographic lens. SOLUTION: The lens barrel is provided with an opening/closing driving member 21 performing a straight advancing motion cooperatively with the backward movement of a 1st lens chamber 13 for holding the 1st lens group L1 of the photographic lens, a spring 22 for energizing the member 21 ahead of a 1st lens chamber 13, a rotation conversion lever 23 for converting the straight advancing motion of the member 21 to the rotating motion and a barrier member 27 for opening/closing the front surface of the photographic lens L while drawing a circular-arc track in accordance with the rotating motion of the rotation conversion lever 23.
