PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map error information obtaining system in which collection of map error information, that reports errors in map information, is promoted and the number of processes to check and to confirm correctness of the contents of the map error information being reported is reduced. SOLUTION: An image obtaining means 4 which is used to photograph a surrounding place, is provided in a position detecting device 1 and map error information which includes the objective place where an error exists in the map information and its image data, is transmitted to a center device 9. In the center device 9, an error in the map information is confirmed by the transmitted image data when the map information is revised. Moreover, an evaluation value is assigned to the map error information to control the evaluation value for every transmitter and a privilege is given to the transmitter in accordance with the evaluation value.
