The rotary radiator has a housing (1) that is rotatable about an axis, that accommodates a radiation source and that is enclosed by a further housing (5) accommodating a coolant (F). An outside surface of the first housing in contact with the coolant has recesses (11) and/or protrusions that act against the formation of transverse eddy currents in the coolant when the housing rotates.
