An adjustment mechanism adjusts the position of a needle roll (18) relative to a bag material (4) in a lateral direction (x) orthogonal to the length of bag material. A brush roll (3) with bristles (10) guides and transports the bag material through the needle roll. The adjustment mechanism consists of an adjustment screw (11) coupled with a threaded coupling (12) and handwheel (13). Independent claims are included for the following: (a) a bag production machine; (b) and a use of a bag material perforating apparatus.
