PURPOSE: Provided is a composition containing ginsenoside rh2 as an active ingredient for preventing brain cell. The ginsenoside rh2 is preferably manufactured from the extract of red ginseng in high yields and prevention and treatment effects on stroke. CONSTITUTION: The composition for preventing brain cell is characterized by containing 0.02-90 dried weight % of ginsenoside rh2 as an active ingredient. The ginsenoside rh2 is manufactured by the steps of: washing ginseng with water and acid-containing water; steaming the ginseng at 98-100 deg.C for 1-10 hours, preferably 2-5 hours in a steamer, then drying the steamed ginseng at 60 deg.C for 5 hours in a dryer to give red ginseng; extracting the red ginseng with water or organic solvent to give extract; and inoculating bacterioides sp. and Fusobacterium sp. to the extract of red ginseng.
