METHOD FOR CONCENTRATING LARGE QUANTITY OF SILICA SOL SOLUTION BY REMOVING LARGE QUANTITY OF WATER FROM SILICA SOL SOLUTION

PURPOSE: To provide a method for selectively obtaining silica sol of high molecular weight having excellent performance by selectively removing water that is a dispersion medium of silica sol using super absorbent polymer, thereby thickening the silica sol. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of contacting poly(acrylate-acrylamide) cross linking copolymer that is a super absorbent polymer with an aqueous silica sol solution; separating the super absorbent polymer containing water absorbed from the aqueous silica sol solution from the silica sol solution; and repeating one or more operations of removing water from the super absorbent polymer by exposing the separated super absorbent polymer to the atmosphere and increasing temperature of the super absorbent polymer so that water is removed from the silica sol solution.
