<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the influence of heat on components including an exposure part and other than a fixing device by efficiently discharging heat from the fixing device even though an image forming apparatus is miniaturized. <P>SOLUTION: A power source 102 and a control device 104 are disposed between a first air intake port 120 and an air-sending fan 96. An optical writing unit 54 is disposed between a second air intake port 122 and the air-sending fan 96. The fixing device 28 is disposed between the air-sending fan 96 and an air exhaust port 124. The air-sending fan 96 receives air used for cooling the power source 102, the control device 104, and the optical writing unit 54 and sends the air, as a current of air, into a surrounding space 140 (mainly downward) located around the fixing device 28.
