<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus by which operation is returned from a power-saving mode to a normal mode in accordance with the various kinds of use states. <P>SOLUTION: A power source 70 supplies necessary electric power to the parts of a main controller 50 and an engine controller 60. Electric power is supplied from a 24 V power source to a driving motor 81 for rotating the rotary developing part of a mechanism part 80. A switch 86 is operated by a user at the time of replacing the toner cartridge of each color, and when the user operates the switch 86 in a state that the 24 V power source is interrupted in the power-saving mode, a turn-on signal is inputted to a CPU 61. The CPU 61 transmits the release request of the power-saving mode to the main controller 50, and returns the operation in the normal mode, so that the 24 V power source is energized.
