PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving channel number indicator and a method which simply identifies the receiving channel number of a program being received by a television receiver without much labor hour. SOLUTION: The receiving channel number indicator 1 detects the frequency component of a local oscillation signal leaking from a television receiver about a receiving channel on which a program is broadcast while the television receiver is receiving the program, and indicates a receiving channel number allotted to the receiving channel on the basis of the detected frequency component.
