PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding and fixing method of a spring sheet in a strut type shock absorber that can be inexpensively manufactured without requiring special postprocessing. SOLUTION: The strut type shock absorber is composed of an outer tube 3 coupled to an axle side and fixed with a spring sheet 2 on an outer peripheral surface thereof by welding, and an inverted damper D inserted in the outer tube 3. The damper is coupled to a vehicular body side; and composed of a damper cylinder slidably inserted in the outer tube 3 through bearing members 11, 12 pressed in and fixed, and a piston rod 6 inserted in the damper cylinder so as to freely go in/out and united to a lower portion 7 in the outer tube 3 side. In the shock absorber, when the spring sheet 2 is fixed on an outer peripheral surface of the outer tube 3 by welding, the bearing member 11 slidably supporting the damper cylinder 5 is temporary contacted and disposed on an inner peripheral surface of the outer tube 3 opposite to a welded portion Y.
