PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the print quality of a line thermal printer by providing a control means that can be simply and versatilely applied without involving an increase in the size of a circuit. SOLUTION: The line thermal printer comprises at least three shift registers 201 storing print data in the past, present and future as serial data, a logic circuit 202 synthesizing the serial data stored in the shift registers 201 by a prescribed logical operation, and energization circuits 503 and 504 fixing the energization time of a heating resistor based on the synthesized data synthesized in the logical circuit.
