PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for driving a plasma display panel are provided to allow the single scan by reducing the delay of discharge as well as to stabilize the sustain discharge. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a plasma display panel includes the steps of: forming the wall charge on the top plate and the bottom plate by supplying the first rising ramp waveform to the first electrode; erasing a portion of the wall charge formed on the top plate by supplying the second rising ramp waveform to the second electrode; erasing a portion of the wall charge formed on the bottom plate by supplying the falling ramp waveform to the first electrode and the second electrode; supplying the scan voltage to the first electrode during an address period and selecting the cells by supplying the data voltage to the third electrode; and performing the display by alternatively supplying the sustain voltage to the first and the second electrodes during the sustain period.
