PURPOSE: A buoyant material for a life jacket and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve wearing comfort and activity of a user wearing the life jacket by forming a plurality of protrusions corresponding to the curve of the body. CONSTITUTION: In a buoyant material(110) for a life jacket, the buoyant materials correspond to the front and rear of the life jacket, and are inserted into the right and wrong sides of the front and rear of the life jacket. A plurality of protrusions(112) are formed at one surface or both surfaces of the buoyant material, and are divided by grooves(111). A compressed layer is formed at the inside of the surface of the buoyant material. Flexible fabrics are joined to the outside of the surface of the buoyant material.
