<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filamentous bacteria preventive bulking inhibitor which can cope with bulking caused by the growth of filamentous bacteria without abruptly changing the configuration condition of microorganisms in a treatment layer even when a chemical agent is used and to provide a filamentous bacteria growth preventive bulking inhibitor. <P>SOLUTION: The filamentous bacteria growth preventive bulking inhibitor comprises outer coats of grain and a chemical agent in a prescribed weight ratio. As compared with the case where the chemical agent is used alone, the bulking inhibitor exhibits a synergistic effect, less adversely affects microorganisms other than the filamentous bacteria, can early solve bulking, and is not deleterious to water quality.
