<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head protective airbag device which is mounted on a vehicle with less space in the vehicle width direction without abutting on an occupant when deployed. <P>SOLUTION: The head protective airbag device 1 is connected to an inflator 7 and equipped with an airbag 2 with expansion gas flowing therein. The airbag 2 includes a gas inlet 3a connected to the inflator 7 and an inflation unit 4 which is inflated by allowing expansion gas to be introduced during operation. The airbag is stored in an upper part of a side surface in a cabin of a vehicle 10 when not in operation, and deployed with the side surface in the cabin downwardly when the vehicle 10 collides to protect the head of the occupant from the outside of the vehicle. When the airbag 2 is stored in the upper part of the side surface in the cabin, the lower end of the inflation unit 4 is folded in a bellows toward the upper end thereof, and then, the rear end 4c is folded forward. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
