PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data search system that facilitates an extension, update or the like to an electronic dictionary and provides a quicker search. SOLUTION: Image information captured by an image capture part 112 of a portable pen type input device 101 is transmitted by radio to a separate character information analysis and search device 102, an electronic dictionary in a database storage part 124 of the character information analysis and search device 102 is searched accordingly, and a search result resulting from the search is transmitted by radio to the pen type input device 101 and displayed on a display part 114.
