PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of engaging a brake of an elevator cage or a counterweight in all cases, by eliminating a defect of the known device. SOLUTION: A trigger mechanism 25 for raising up a braking wedge 30, is provided with a holding element 29 for fastening a pin 27 arranged in a first double lever 14, and a second element 31 engaging by a second double lever 14.1. The holding element 29 fixes the double levers 14, and 14.1 in ordinary operation.
