PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the building up and maintenance works of a self-propelling train type carrying device for which a vertical moving path can be incorporated in a carrying path. SOLUTION: For this self-propelling train type carrying device, a supporting section 51 for an article to be carried is provided on a running body 5 for carrying. For the running body 5 for carrying, a motor-driven driving wheel 11 which rolls on a guide rail 1 and a back up roller 17a which is press-contact with the lower surface of the guide rail 1 are provided on a main body 6. The back up roller 17a is arranged in the direction of crossing the main body 6 and the lower side of the guide rail 1, and is pivotally supported on the external end part upper side of a vertically moving member 16 which is freely vertically movably supported on the main body 6. On the internal end part of the vertically movable member 16, a vertical shaft 28 which enters the inside of the lower end cylindrical section 6B of the main body 6 is provided. Then, the self-propelling train type carrying device is constituted in such a way that a spring 29 which urges the vertically movable member 16 in the pulling up direction through the vertical shaft 28 is contained in the lower end cylindrical section 6B of the main body 6.
