The sales cabinet has an insulated chamber (1) with means for generating a cooling air stream (5) and means for circulating same. This insulated space is mounted above the refrigerated food area and has on the underneath side at least one air intake opening (7) and air outlet opening (8) whilst on the top side there is a lid flap (3) which opens to the outside. A gas compression spring is arranged between the flap and cabinet display area.
