PURPOSE: An automatic drain valve for public water service is provided to improve the water quality by managing stagnant water effectively and to obtain the effective data for analyzing the quantity of flowing water by measuring exactly. CONSTITUTION: The method for bypassing an automatic drain valve(4) of a water purification/supply pipeline(1) of public water service comprises the steps of pressing an operating time switch(15) and an operating period switch(16) of a controller(13), then pressing an operating switch(17) to drain off water for 5 minutes once every 12 hours by after and repeating drainage works for 12 hours. If operating a stopping switch(18) intermediately, the automatic drain valve(4) is to be in the low-power state by a sleep mode and to reduce the staying time of water to improve the water quality.
