PURPOSE: A drum-type washing machine combined with a drying function and an automatic drying method utilizing the washing machine are provided to secure an exact and subdivided washing amount determination value via a temperature change occurring in a duct for condensation and to enable a user to attain a desired degree of dryness according to the determined washing amount value. CONSTITUTION: A drum-type washing machine combined with a drying function comprises a tub(2) in which a drum is rotatably installed; a duct(20) constituting a passage for circulation of air for drying the laundry in the tub; and upper and lower temperature sensors(25,26) each installed to the upper part and lower part of the inside of the duct to sense temperature. The washing amount and degree of dryness of the laundry are determined via the deviation of the sensed temperature of the upper temperature sensor and the sensed temperature of the lower temperature sensor.
