PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary screw down device which does not perform any rotary movement against a bearing chock of a roll in a roll stand. SOLUTION: A cylinder body ZK forming a screw down spindle is guided by a screw portion into a carrier sleeve TH arranged inside a crosshead QH. The cylinder body ZK has, furthermore, a screw portion equipped with another thread having the opposite direction below the guided screw portion, and a screw down pressurizing sleeve ADH having an internal thread for the screw portion is fixed so that it is incapable of rotation against the carrier sleeve TH.
