<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions for sensor films to be used for detecting chemical analytes inside a sensor, a polymer-absorbing chemiresistor (i.e., a conductivity sensor) for example. <P>SOLUTION: Sensor film compositions, having stability at high temperatures and sensitivity with respect to chemical analytes and a method for manufacturing the sensor films are provided. The sensor film compositions include crosslinked polymers, containing monomers having hydrocarbon side chain radicals having two or more carbon atoms and a plurality of conductive particles, distributed inside the crosslinked polymers. Alternatively and preferably, oil containing siloxanes, having at least a single side-chain radical which has two or more carbon atoms is distributed in crosslinked siloxane polymers, and the oil is distributed in the crosslinked siloxane polymers. Conductive particles of N<SB>2</SB>of absorption range of approximately 8-25 m<SP>2</SP>/g provide high sensor film performance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
