PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method in a distributed environment wherein a plurality of terminals are connected with a telecommunication circuit and information is recorded in each memory of a distributed terminal. SOLUTION: In specific and a plurality of terminals, there are a process installing a distributing/sharing technique system sharing and managing the information of the terminals and controlling the exchange of the information between each terminal through the telecommunication circuit, and a process making all shared index files enabling retrieval of the information by recording location information of the information coincide between the terminals which can be accessed through the telecommunication circuit. If desired information exists in one terminal, the terminal uses the information. If the desired information does not exist, it refers a shared index file and acquires the desired information by specifying and accessing a terminal having the desired information out of the other terminals.
