PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a software providing system for unitarily managing the machine types, update states, etc. of electrical appliances owned by a user and providing updating data to be installed in electrical appliances which can be connected to a network. SOLUTION: A data management server 1 provided with a database 5 for storing the machine type information of an appliance 8, updating data table information in which the identification information of update data allowed to be installed in the appliance 8 is recorded in each machine type information, machine type information of the appliance 8 constituting an electrical appliance network 3, update history information in which the identification information of the update data installed in the appliance 8 is recorded, and the update data by a prescribed file format, the identification information recorded in the update data table information is compared with the identification information recorded in the update history information on the basis of the machine type information, update data allowed to be installed in the appliance 8 are selected, the update data allowed to be installed are acquired from the database 5 and sent and the appliance 8 receives and installs the update data.
