PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously collect soil samples at two places in a surface layer and a deep layer by using a structurally simple device. SOLUTION: A core tube 1 for the surface layer is fixed to an outside holder 32 by means of a chuck 5. A core tube 2 for the deep layer is fixed to an inside holder 31, which is attached to a lower end of a coupling material 35 of the outside holder 32, by means of the chuck 5. A driving shaft of an excavator is connected to the inside holder 31; the core tubes 1 and 2 are driven into ground by rotation, oscillation and vibrations; and the soil samples are taken into the core tubes. The soil samples in the surface layer and the deep layer are mixed together so that a degree of pollution can be measured. The core tube 2 for collecting the soil sample in the deep layer and the short core tube 1 for collecting the soil sample in a shallow part of the surface layer are concentrically arranged, and the soil samples at the two places in the surface layer and the deep layer can be simultaneously collected by a single sampling operation.
