The degradation of characteristics of an optical cable due to generation of voids caused by gasification of a fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) can be prevented in a method of manufacturing an optical cable, in which an optical fiber and a tension member made of a FRP are coated by extruding a thermoplastic resin around them, the temperature of the thermoplastic resin during extrusion being controlled in the range of 160° C. to 190° C.
