A technique is disclosed which provides an electronic service manual display program that allows the user to freely write and view his additional comments. According to this technique, a substrate or circuit drawing is displayed within a drawing display area. When a predetermined operation, such as a right-click of the mouse, is made on a graphic element or on a drawing, menu information in which comments can be entered or viewed is produced and displayed. When the user selects the comment entry in the menu information, a comment entry form is displayed. The comments then entered in the comment entry form are associated with the identification information of the selected drawing (drawing identification information) or with the identification information of the graphic element (component identification information) and then stored in a database. When the user selects the comment view in the menu information, the comments are searched for based on the drawing identification information of the selected drawing or based on the component identification information of the graphic element, and the comments are displayed based on such a search result. |
