The moulded shell is held on at least two sides and has a bending zone (13) with straight edge section and a reinforcement trough (12) to increase the bending strength. This reinforcement trough forms a common seam line (17, 18) in a peripheral section with the straight edge section. The bending zone can have several moulded reinforcement troughs with adjoining troughs forming a common seam line in one peripheral section. The moulded shell forms a flat surface area of a vehicle body base (1).
