<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a printer from being contaminated or damaged upon the replacement of a replaceable module. <P>SOLUTION: In a printer, the propriety of a particular replaceable module 44 (toner container) is checked before a movable member 82 (auger) of the printer is completely engaged with the replaceable module 44. In the process in which the replaceable module 44 is inserted into the printer, a printer coupler 92 establishes a communication link with a tag 90 on the replaceable module 44. The printer coupler 92 receives identification information of the replaceable module 44 from the tag 90. Based on the identification information, the coupler 92 checks to see if the replaceable module 44 fits in the place in the printer, and executes either an acceptance operation for accepting the replaceable module 44 or rejection operation for rejecting the replaceable module 44. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
