PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element guide capable of realizing an oil filter assembly operation having the uniform load-deflection rate with more efficiency at a lower cost in order to improve the shortcomings of a conventional element guide such as its nonuniform load-deflection property and the dispersion of the filter. SOLUTION: The reversible element guide includes a canister 12 having a closed end and an open end, a filter element assembly 30 disposed within the canister and having a first end adjacent to the closed end 14 of the canister and a second end adjacent to the open end 16 of the canister, and a reversible element guide 50 disposed within the canister between the closed end and the first end of the filter element assembly. The reversible element guide has a first side and a second side, where the first side is molded substantially the same as the second side.
