摘要 PURPOSE: An in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve light transmittance by removing color filters corresponding to common electrodes and pixel electrodes, thereby improving peak brightness. CONSTITUTION: A first substrate(110) and a second substrate(120) are opposite to each other. Gate lines and data lines are arranged on the first substrate for defining pixel areas. Common electrodes(106) and pixel electrodes(107) are arranged in the pixel areas for generating a transverse electric field. Color filters(123) are formed on the second substrate and at a light transmission area(T'1) between the pixel electrode and the common electrode except an area corresponding to the common electrodes and the pixel electrodes. A liquid crystal layer(113) is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate.
