<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict the permanent usage of a program module by facilitating change of the program module to be performed in starting, and also by adding the usage restricting conditions of a validated program module. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming device is connected to an outer apparatus via a communication part, and includes: a starting program identifying part 502 for storing starting program information to identify the program module to be performed in starting among a plurality of program modules for achieving a plurality of functions; a program managing part 501 for executing the program module corresponding to the starting program information when the image forming device is started, based on the starting program information stored in the starting program identifying part 502; a means for acquiring license information, comprising identification information of the device and the starting program information, from a PC via the communication part 102; and a means for updating the starting program information stored in the starting program identifying part 502, based on the acquired license information.
