<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a pigment dispersion comprising a large amount of a pigment finely and uniformly dispersed with a little amount of a dispersant, to obtain a curable coloring composition which is excellent in pattern-forming property, gives a high coloring density though in a low concentration and is capable of forming a colored layer causing no elution of an impurity to ensure high electric reliability, and to provide a color filter realizing a wide color reproduction range. <P>SOLUTION: The pigment dispersion for the curable coloring composition comprises at least the pigment, the pigment dispersant comprising a polymer, which has a main chain structure comprising a monomer unit obtained by polymerizing at least a diisocyanate compound and/or a triisocyanate compound and contains a polyester chain but neither an acidic functional group nor a polyether chain, a copolymer which has a molecular structure comprising at least a constituting unit having an SP (solubility parameter) value of at least 10 and bearing no acidic functional group and, linked thereto, a constituting unit bearing an epoxy group, and an organic solvent. The curable coloring composition comprises the pigment dispersion and a curable binder.
