PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a colorant from being eluted into water, when it is included in an aqueous hardenable colored synthetic clay. SOLUTION: The colorant for clay is obtained by the followings: a pigment, an oil-soluble dye fine powder or a process color prepared by processing them, is blended with a resin, the resultant blend is melt-kneaded by heating, and after the obtained kneaded product is cooled and pulverized into colored fine resin particles, the particles are classified so as to obtain those having diameters of≥1.15μm, or are homogeneously kneaded with a water-insoluble high boiling point non-volatile liquid, or with a semi-solid. The safe and chromatic colored aqueous hardenable colored clay, is obtained by using the colorant, fully satisfying an elution test in water according to the self-regulation standard by The Japan Toy Association, (ST mark authorization standard).
