PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing apparatus constituted so that the smooth flow of developer is not interrupted, and also, the developer remaining on a rotating developing sleeve after a developing process is effectively peeled off. SOLUTION: The developing apparatus is provided with a housing 14 for storing the developer and equipped with an opening part facing the surface of a photoreceptor 11, the rotating developing sleeve 12 stored in the housing 14 and facing the photoreceptor 11 through the opening part, a plurality of fixed magnets incorporated with the rotating developing sleeve 12 and having a developing main pole N1 and carrying magnetic poles N2 and N3 positioned on the downstream side of the developing main pole N1 in the rotating direction of the developing sleeve 12 so as to peel the developer off. A magnetic body 16 is arranged on the upstream side of a developer peeling position P formed by the carrying magnetic pole N2 in the rotating direction of the developing sleeve 12, and also, in an area affected by the magnetic field of the carrying magnetic pole N2 and in the inside wall surface of the housing 14.
