PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-conditioning apparatus and a mounting method of an energy recovering device having an operating method of the energy recovering device capable of recovering the water energy even in a chilled/hot water storage type air conditioning apparatus with a waterfall prevention valve, and coping with the variation of a flow rate in accompany with the variation of air conditioning load, and further recovering the unused energy of a building where the air conditioning apparatus is normally operated even in the failure of the energy recovering device. SOLUTION: In this method of mounting the energy recovering device 100 in the air conditioning apparatus comprising a water tank 6, a water pipe for delivering the water in the water tank 6 to the air conditioning load 9 such as a heat source machine or a fan coil by a pump 7, a return water pipe 10 for guiding the water having passed through the air conditioning load 9 to the water tank 6, and the waterfall prevention valve 11 mounted on the return water pipe 10, a branched pipe 4 is branched from the return water pipe 10 at the upstream of the waterfall prevention valve 11 to the water tank 6 to guide the water, and the energy recovering device 100 is mounted on the way of the branched pipe 4.
