CONNECTOR FOR MEMORY CARD

A connector for memory cards having a detection switch for detecting insertion of a memory card, wherein stable contact of the detection switch is achieved. Breakage of the memory card due to bounce-out is prevented when the memory card is taken out. The detection switch together with a contact capable of coming into contact with a terminal of the memory card is held by a contact block. The detection switch comprises a fixed contact plate and a movable spring piece. A groove having a generally V-shaped cross section is defined in a contact portion of the movable spring piece. Therefore, the movable spring piece comes into contact with the fixed contact plate at two points. An elastic projection is formed on the top of the housing. The elastic projection fits into a locking recess defined in the memory card immediately before a slider holding the memory card reaches the initial position, thereby preventing bounce-out of the memory card.
