PURPOSE: A method for sensing the washing amount of a washing machine is provided to reduce the deviation in the number of pulse caused by the brake force of a brake fixing an inner tub and to reduce wear caused by repeated use of the brake, by enabling rotation of the inner tub in sensing the washing amount in a wash mode. CONSTITUTION: A method for sensing the washing amount of a washing machine comprises steps of connecting capacitors parallel to supply working power to a motor and increasing torque of the motor, in a dehydrating mode or a wash mode in which an inner tub is rotatable(S21); turning on/off the motor for a predetermined number of times to rotate the motor in a direction according to the increased torque(S22); counting the number of pulse produced by the residual electromotive force caused by the excess rotation of the motor when the motor is turned off while the motor is turned on/off(S23); turning on/off the motor for a predetermined number of times to make the motor rotate in a direction opposite to the direction of the second step(S24); counting the number of pulse produced by the residual electromotive force caused by the excess rotation of the motor when the motor is turned off while the motor is turned on/off(S25); and sensing the washing amount via the counted number of pulse(S26). |
