PURPOSE: A method for announcing SMS(Short Message Service) reception by groups is provided to establish SMS reception announcements by groups according to a user's convenience in order to differently announce the reception of a short message according to each classified group. CONSTITUTION: A user enters an SMS reception environment setting mode(ST1), and selects an SMS reception announcement setting mode(ST2). Then the user selects an SMS reception group in the SMS reception announcement setting mode(ST3), and sets a reception announcement for the selected SMS reception group(ST4).
