<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide infrared communication equipment with an object detecting function which avoids the largeness of a device and a drastic cost increase and takes into sufficient consideration switching of each function. <P>SOLUTION: This infrared communication equipment 1 with an object detecting function comprises a light emitting element 2 and a light receiving element 3, a control part 4 for controlling light emission of the light emitting element 2 and determining processing on the basis of light reception of the light receiving element 3, and an interface 7 provided between the control part 4 and a device controller 6 of a device 5 to be attached to transmit/receive a signal. In order to perform object detection by detecting reflection of an infrared ray and communication by an infrared ray by using the same light emitting element 2 and light receiving element 3, the control part 4 determines the existence of a reflection object 8 when the light receiving element 3 synchronizes with light emission of the light emitting element 2 to receive light. In addition, the control part 4 determines the existence of a communication signal from external infrared communication equipment 9 operated around the device 5 when the light receiving element 3 receives light at timing other than the timing of the light emission of the light emitting element 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
