PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device for a vehicle for automatically detecting the size capacity of a battery mounted on a battery mounting part of the vehicle in order to appropriately conducting power supply control in the power supply device for the vehicle. SOLUTION: A plurality of photosensors 14 outputting a signal corresponding to the length in the horizontal plane longitudinal direction of the battery 10 mounted on a battery tray 12 are arranged in the battery tray 12 for mounting the battery 10, and a weight sensor 16 outputting a signal corresponding to the mass of the battery is arranged. The relation of the length in the horizontal plane longitudinal direction, the mass, and the size capacity of the battery 10 having correlation each other is stored in an ECU 20. The ECU 20 detects the size capacity of the battery 10 based on the length in the horizontal plane longitudinal direction of the battery 10 mounted on the battery tray 12 detected with the photosensor 14 and the mass of the battery 10 detected with the weight sensor 16.
