PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkylphosphonate monoester. SOLUTION: This method for producing the alkylphosphonate monoester includes subjecting an alkylphosphonate diester to hydrolysis with an alkali compound to a certain extent in a first solvent comprising a mixture of an alcohol and water , so as to form a reaction mixture. The method may include diluting the reaction mixture with a second solvent comprising at least one kind of nonpolar organic solvent, so as to form an organic phase containing the alkylphpsphonate monoester.
