PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser oscillator wherein a desired beam mode is obtained by optimizing an optical resonator constituted of a reflection mirror and an aperture. SOLUTION: The laser oscillator is provided with electrodes which excite a laser medium having a prescribed gas flow, the reflection mirror which amplifies pumping light, and the aperture which controls the oscillation mode of a laser. When the pumping light has gain distribution directionality to the optical axis, the opening ratios of the aperture in the discharging direction and a gas flowing direction are optimized so that the beam mode numbers in the directions may become the same.
