PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer method of the servo pattern which can transfer a magnetic pattern of an arbitrary shape having a clear edge boundary. SOLUTION: A master disc 50 comprises a rigid or flexible substrate 52, and a first film 54 made of a soft magnetic material, patterned islands 56 made of soft magnetic material, which are located on the first film and extends above the film, and recesses 58 between the islands. A slave disk 10 is either magnetized with DC in the first direction perpendicular to a plane of a recording layer 13, or AC erased. This slave disk 10 is then magnetized in the same direction as the magnetic field applied to areas located under the islands 56 by placing with its outside layer 15 so as to adjoin the islands 56 of the master disk 50, and by applying the magnetic field perpendicularly. In the areas of the recording layer 13 located under the recesses 58, the magnetization is reversed from the magnetization in the areas under the islands 56. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
