PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design supporting method capable of significantly reducing design work in a stage of designing and in a design change with a large degree of freedom of dimensional drive. SOLUTION: This method comprises a selection process 1 for selecting optional basic shape data from a plurality of basic shape data of a part to be designed, a design process 2 for changing the dimension of a selected basic shape so as to be matched to a real design, a part making process 3 for adding a fillet to the basic shape changed in dimension to form a part model, a function examination process 5 for examining the function of the part model by use of CAE or a sample model, and a feedback process 6 for re-examining the design in the design process based on the function examination. A plurality of kinds of part models are preliminarily formed with a basic geometry, and the form of a part to be actually designed is selected from them. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
