PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cam apparatus which is used as a cam for zooming for driving and moving a variable power lens provided in a camera, causes little fluctuation as rotational load and can be rotated with light load, and to provide a camera equipped with the cam apparatus as the cam for zooming of an optical system. SOLUTION: The cam apparatus is constituted of: a cam base substance 251 obtained by arranging small-diameter sliding parts on both side parts of a cylindrical body respectively and forming one-side cam surfaces 40a and 41a between the trunk part of the cylindrical body and the sliding part; a cam frame 252 where a 1st cam groove 40 is formed by the cam surfaces 40a and 40b by forming the other side cam surface 40b and fitting it to the one-side sliding part; a cam frame 253 where a 2nd cam groove 41 is formed by the cam surfaces 41a and 41b by forming the other side cam surface 41b and fitting it to the other side sliding part; and a coil spring 254 making cam pins 21c and 22c press-contact with the cam surfaces by pressing the cam frames 252 and 253 in a direction where they approach to each other.
