<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively drive a transistor which prevents an afterimage in organic EL elements. <P>SOLUTION: The organic EL pixel circuit is provided with a discharge transistor TFT 3 for connecting the upper end of an organic EL element EL with a negative power source VEE, and a control transistor TFT 4 for connecting the upper end of a storage capacitor SC with a power source PVDD. The TFT3 is driven with the voltage generated by shifting a gate line output Gete of a precedent stage by a level shifter L/S2 and the TFT4 is driven with the voltage generated by shifting the gate line output Gete being the same with the precedent stage by a level shifter L/S1.
